Yesterday was my first day home with all three kids alone. Not to mention that Arley had to be out of town for the night. Well, here is a bit of a run down. Hope you enjoy, that will at least make one of us!
7:00 am wake up to Abraham going through the babies diaper bag… oops, left some bubbles in there from who knows when, good thing it was still sealed and I was able to get out of bed in time.
Make some breakfast for the boys and get in the shower quick before baby wakes.
Get out of the shower to Solomon screaming “Abraham, NO, don’t cut me!” Abraham was trying to cut Solomon’s hair with the scissors I find out after entering the kitchen and find a bunch of Abraham’s hair on the floor.
Baby wakes up and needs diaper change and bottle. Go through three diapers as she soils every one as I try and put it on….. Diaper rash to boot. Finally get a clean on to stay clean enough get her feed. Boys have been playing in the toy room.
8:15am Abraham comes out to take a drink of juice from breakfast. Starts to walk away from the table and drops his glass on the floor. Shatters all over leaving hair and glass to clean up after baby finishes eating. Boys sent outside. Get baby fed and change another dirty diaper. Change clothes while I’m at it.
Get a call from friend. She is bringing over a bunch of girl clothes for Eden to use. Very excited and thankful. Lay Eden down in bassinet while I sweep up the floor.
10:30 Friend drops by with clothes. Chat for a while and make a balloon hat for her girl. Have been making and popping balloons with the boys for about a half hour and it is not even waking baby. She is SUCH a good sleeper.
11:00 Head out to the grocery store for rice milk and some other things. Boys a bit jumpy and won’t stay seated. My body getting sore for lifting too much weight so soon after surgery, but you have to do what you have to do. After ‘gently’ reminding boys to sit down and keep their feet inside the car and not to sit on the groceries, make it up to the checkout line with Eden still asleep. Wow, she is SUCH a great sleeper. Get all the groceries in the car and head home. Got a special snack for the boys (ice cream for Solomon and frozen Tofuti for Abraham) and can’t wait until after supper to surprise them.
12:30 Get home and put groceries away. Meanwhile, letting Solomon ride his bike in the front yard. Also letting Abraham play in the sand in the side driveway knowing Solomon will keep an eye on him. After rushing to get the groceries put away (because my body feels like it will collapse soon) and get an Ibuprofen 600 or whatever they are the doctor gave me I look out to see the boys climbing INSIDE the garbage can! Go out to pull can up to the house and find they are eating some cinnamon candies that they found in the bottom! UGH! Ignore the thought and advise that things taken out of trash can are not nummy but indeed truly disgusting and roll trash can back up to the house.
Make the boys sandwiches and squished pears (that were sat on at some point during the shopping spree) to the boys. Wonder if they wonder what made those perfect squares on one side…..
1:00 Start to make some lunch for myself and Eden wakes up. Get her bottle ready and wonder if I will ever change a diaper that is just wet. Sit down to feed her and she must have some air in stomach because she is still crying and won’t eat. Try and burp her for about an hour. Still nothing. She will suck a few sucks but still not eat. Put her down and grab a snack ‘to keep my energy up’ (what energy I remind myself) and get back to Eden as she does not want to be put down. Falls sleep in my arms finally after sort of eating 3.5 ounces. Get to check out some of the 3-6 month clothes that were dropped off, what, a week ago? Find a layette with a closed bottom that is gorgeous and think, maybe I should just put it on her – oh wait she has been sleeping for like 12 minutes, better not!! And up she is again. Sigh. Put clothes down and walk around with her. Make something to eat with her in tow all while trying to burp her. Eat about three bits of lunch and get heartburn. Oh well, it’s almost supper time anyway.
1:30 Tell Abraham that he has half an hour before nap. Open eyes to see Solomon riding his horse, smiling at me and the clock says 1:56! Oh, did I fall sleep? Get the boys to lay down for nap/rest and try to get Eden to sleep too.
4:45pm Get a call from my mother. God sent for sure. She talks to me for about a half an hour just to get me thinking of something else. She is so good to me! Finally get baby to take another bottle and she eats until I get off the phone. She must have known it was grandma 🙂 Cries and cries some more. Have a moronic though…. I wonder, since she is a girl and all, she doesn’t like her outfit? (laugh and snicker) Get the layette out and change her.
6:00 pm Silence! What? She really didn’t like her outfit? She was in a onsie and pants. Maybe she didn’t like the elastic around her waist….. Doesn’t cry the rest of the night! Hallelujah (angels singing, horns trumpeting)! She takes the swing so I can get sandwiches made for the boys. Sit down and feed her another bottle and get a salad made for myself now that heartburn is gone. Get the boys their ice cream treat and watch them enjoy. Frozen Tofuti is a success! Too bad it is 6.99 for a small container. After ice cream the boys head out to play some more.
8:00pm Look outside to see Solomon trying to tear off the neighbors hose from the fence. Immediately bring him inside and send to bed, telling him that he will need to apologize to the neighbors tomorrow. Let Abe play some more while I sit down and close my eyes for a moment. Wishing to fall asleep but I don’t. Bring Abraham in and send to bed at 8:30. Just as Eden wakes up. Yeah.
Feed another bottle and get her asleep by 9:30. As I am bringing her back to bed, hear Abraham crying…? Lay Eden down and investigate. Abraham doesn’t like his pillowcase and wants to trade with his sleeping brothers pillowcase. Assure him we will iron it out in the morning and lay him down, remembering at that moment that I am not suppose to lift more than 15 lbs…oops. Get my teeth brushed and jammies on and to bed I go. Sad that I did not get on the computer to get Arley’s hotel information so I can not call and say Hi or good night, but WAY WAY WAY to exhausted to do anything about it. Fall asleep praying for strength and a smoother day tomorrow.
Today is a bit better. I have only had bath tub water flowing out from under the door into the hallway and Solomon beating Harley (one of the cats) with a plastic bat as she was waiting to get inside. So I won’t be seeing his face until lunch time. AND, I hear Eden waking in her bed. But, hey – I did get another shower today!!! And no hair on the floor when I got out! Did I mention, she is SUCH a good sleeper! No really, she is!
