Creepy crawlies and no camera!
Solomon just came in as I was posting last and said, “I want to show you something. Actually, two things. Actually two animals….”
At this point I am getting intrigued. “OK, just let me get these pictures loaded.”
“One is a mouse and one is a lizard!” And where are these that they are not running away I think to myself. And as soon as the last picture loads we are out the door in search of great finds I am sure! First we come to Abraham, in the window well, with a dump truck sippy cup (remember not to use THAT one if you come over) with a rock and a vole inside. He had gone down and picked it up and was carrying it in the only appropriate thing to carry it in…. a cup.
On to the second window well treasure! Oh, is that a skink? No, a Salamander? It is moving so fast I can’t tell. “Sure Solomon, you can TRY and catch it, go ahead!”
So, now I have a ground skink in my living room and a vole that was accidentally tipped over and is somewhere under the deck. At least it wasn’t tipped over in the house, next to the skink! I’m not sure which one I would actually prefer as a pet, but we have a skink now. When mating season comes and goes we will be able to name our skink….if it lasts that long.
Unfortunately, I brought my camera out to take pictures to share, but it won’t turn on. I hope it was just that the batteries are so low, they don’t even say ‘low battery’ and it is not something else!

Do you remember the salamander that you or Jonn brought home that disappeared in our kitchen when we lived on Main Street? For months I was pretty sure I would reach into a bottom cupboard and touch it – but never did. It either died and dried up or escaped!
